Dance in the Light
At Ocean Drive Dermatology, we use BBL Forever Young laser treatments to help you feel confident about your appearance. Broadband light, or BBL, is a non-ablative light-based treatment that treats sun-damaged skin without downtime. This treatment can target dark sunspots from chronic UV sun exposure as well as broken capillaries from both sun damage and the skin disease rosacea.

Non-invasive Skin Rejuvenation
Using a specialized xenon flash lamp, a BBL laser treatment such as the BBL Forever Young laser provides non-invasive skin rejuvenation. To ensure the most desirable results, your Vero Beach BBL laser provider will personalize the treatment for you.
Almost any area on the body can be treated. When you receive treatments with the BBL laser Vero Beach aesthetic providers can treat the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, legs, and even back.
Keep Your Skin ‘Forever Young’
Broad Band Light (BBL) photo facial and skin rejuvenation treatments are available at Ocean Drive Dermatology to treat facial and body skin concerns. There are two types of BBL treatments. The first is a corrective treatment that helps remove sunspots, hyperpigmentation, and vascular damage caused by UV sun exposure and the aging process. The second type of treatment is the Forever Young protocol, which allows you to maintain the results and acts as an anti-aging treatment. The Forever Young protocol utilizes lower energy settings than a corrective treatment.
TThis lower energy makes the treatment very comfortable because we are utilizing multiple pulses at a lower energy. We recommend the Forever Young protocol to anybody that is looking for a no-downtime procedure that can have anti-aging benefits. This treatment, combined with our Halo Laser, can offer stunning results. Remember, our goal is to have your skin looking better a decade from now than it does today. This treatment will help you accomplish that goal.

Thirty Minutes to Stunning Skin
During BBL laser treatment, energy is used on the treated areas to achieve optimal results. You may experience a snap similar to a rubber band making contact with the skin. Each session typically lasts no more than 30 minutes.
Maintain Your Results
You may require multiple sessions in order to see optimal results. Five treatments are typically necessary, with a three-week break between each session. Even after the first treatment, you will notice that your skin looks and feels better. Sunspots will lighten, and the skin will appear smoother and softer with continued treatments.
Gentle Skin Care | Continued Improvements
We recommend a gentle skincare routine while your skin recovers from treatment. One of the most important things to do is to wear sunscreen and a hat. There is no actual downtime associated with Broadband light. You should expect some redness and blotchy-looking skin post-treatment. Sometimes a sunburn-like sensation is noticed that usually goes away within the first 24 hours. Occasionally, there is some swelling. If the treatment was targeting sunspots or hyperpigmentation, you might notice these spots get darker. They will slough off the skin by day 14 when treating the face; longer for other body areas. Makeup can be worn.
We utilize a high-potency numbing medication that makes the treatment comfortable. You may feel a quick “snap” or “popping” sensation against your skin as the device goes across your skin. You may also notice a warming sensation.
Broadband light is a series of treatments to obtain the best results. It is not uncommon to need three to four treatments to fade or remove hyperpigmentation. For patients that are suffering from Rosacea or vascular sun damage, it is not uncommon to need additional treatments. The treatments can be repeated every month until desired results are achieved.
Yes, there have been studies from Stanford University published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology as far back as 2012. The study was able to determine that the Forever Young protocol can change the gene expressions in the skin that are associated with aging to more closely resemble younger skin. What does this mean? Well, we believe that Broadband Light is more than just a cosmetic procedure removing brown spots from the skin. It is changing how the cells in the skin function over time.
Apart from BBL's utilization of a spectrum of light wavelengths, IPL's light comes in a single, concentrated beam (broadband). Therefore, intense pulsed light (IPL) is ideal for treating a small, specific region of skin, while broadband light (BBL) is usually more effective for treating larger areas of skin.
